Dental Implants & Restorative Dentistry

Dr. Lausier provides the latest in restorative dentistry technology for dental implants.  Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that serve as anchors for replacement teeth. When a patient is missing one or more teeth, dental implants are the most permanent (and often the most comfortable) solution.

Steps for Dental Implants

The first step in the dental implants process for our  patients is a consultation with Dr. Lausier, during which all possible tooth replacement options will be discussed. To be a good candidate for dental implants, a patient must have sufficient bone in his or her jaw to support the implants. Once it is determined that our patient may be a good candidate for dental implants, our patients will be referred for the implant placement. Should more bone be needed a bone graft procedure is an option.  The next step in the dental implants process will occur three to six months later, after the titanium implant has completely fused to the patient's jaw bone. Once this has occurred, the patient can return to our  office where impressions are taken and  a replacement tooth is made for  the patient's artificial tooth roots.

Dental Implants for Dentures

Traditional implant crowns and bridges are an excellent tooth replacement, however for those patients who have dentures and have difficulty wearing them or have ridges which do not accommodate dentures well we now have implants which can anchor the denture. Usually two implants are placed which are modified to fit into the denture snugly eliminating the excess movement and fear of loosening in social situations.
